Nothing Phone 3a Pro : The Ultimate Review

DEVICE REVIEWS
Nothing Phone 3a Pro

Finally, Nothing has launched its Nothing 3a series, which includes two phones: the Nothing Phone 3a and the Nothing Phone 3a Pro. We have already written a blog on the Nothing Phone 3a, and in this blog, we will explore the Nothing Phone 3a Pro.

The 3a Pro is priced at around ₹30,000, and at this price point, there are several strong competitors. So, what does the 3a Pro offer that is unique or better than its rivals? And is it worth buying? Let’s find out.

Design & Build Quality

The Nothing Phone 3a Pro features a design is not similar to the Nothing Phone 3a but with a hard plastic build instead of glass. At the back, it retains the iconic transparent Glyph light design. However, there is a key difference between the Nothing Phone series and the Nothing “A” series. The Nothing Number Series has a Glyph light covering the entire back of the phone, whereas the Nothing A Series (including Phone 3a) has the Glyph light limited to the camera module area.

The camera module looks different from the Nothing Phone 3a. Until now, I had not seen this type of design, where one lens is positioned horizontally and the other vertically. The camera ring is quite large, which some people may like, while others may not. In the end, design is a matter of personal preference.

The phone’s physical features include volume up/down buttons on the left side, a power button on the right side, and an additional Essential Button (details to be discussed later). It also has an IP64 rating, making it splash-resistant but not submersible in water.

Display

The Nothing Phone 3a Pro sports a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED punch-hole display with a 120Hz refresh rate and thin bezels for an immersive viewing experience. The display is protected by Panda Glass, has a peak brightness of 3000 nits (with 1300 nits in High Brightness Mode), and supports HDR10+ with 10-bit color depth. It offers HDR support on YouTube & Netflix and includes an optical in-display fingerprint scanner.

Performance & Processor

Powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 (4nm) processor, the Nothing Phone 3a delivers reliable performance, the same chipset found in the OnePlus Nord 4. It comes with UFS 2.2 storage and LPDDR4X RAM.

If Nothing had provided UFS 3.1 instead of UFS 2.2, it would have been a great combination at the ₹30,000 price point, especially since some brands already offer better storage options. Additionally, the Nord 4 gives users the choice to upgrade, but Nothing has taken a different approach.

The phone achieves an AnTuTu Benchmark Score of 827,366. While it is not designed for heavy gaming, it offers a smooth experience for daily use and casual gaming, delivering decent FPS for mid-range games but it is not ideal for high-end gaming.

Software & Updates

The Nothing Phone 3a Pro runs on Nothing OS 3.1 based on Android 15. Although the OS had some initial bugs, Nothing has significantly improved its stability and performance. It comes with 3 years of major Android updates and 4 years of security updates, making it one of the best Android experiences after Samsung’s One UI.

So, these are the on-paper specifications of the Nothing Phone 3a Pro camera. But when it comes to real-world performance, it’s truly insane! In short, this is the best camera phone around ₹30,000 no doubt about it. I will write a detailed blog covering the strengths and weaknesses of the camera. Overall, Nothing hasn’t artificially boosted colors, and the dynamic range is excellent.

Nothing Phone 3a Pro

Battery & Charging

Equipped with a 5000mAh battery, the Nothing Phone 3a Pro delivers decent battery life. However, Nothing does not provide a charger in the box, so users will need to buy a separate charger or use one they already own. but the phone support 50w fast charger so this is good thing.

Essential Button: A Unique Feature

The Essential Button is an additional button on the Nothing Phone 3a Pro, offering a useful functionality. Pressing the button takes a screenshot of whatever is on the screen, allowing users to add notes and audio to the screenshot, which is then stored in the “Essential App” instead of the gallery. This feature enhances productivity by enabling quick and efficient screenshot saving and annotation.

Final Thought

The Nothing Phone 3a will perform just as well as the Nothing Phone 3a Pro. The main difference between the two is the camera, while everything else remains almost the same. There is a possibility that the 3a Pro offers better storage options and one or two additional features, but overall, there are no major differences.

If you are a professional photographer, you might consider the 3a Pro. Otherwise, there’s no compelling reason to choose it. In comparison, the OnePlus Nord 4 is a better option in terms of performance and overall specifications.

From my perspective, the Nothing Phone 3a is a good choice, but I wouldn’t recommend the 3a Pro.

Thank you so much for reading!!!!!
