Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G – Camera-Centric Beauty with a Fresh Look

Oppo has just launched its new Reno series, which includes two smartphones: the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G and the standard Oppo Reno 14. This series is mainly focused on design and camera. Performance is okay-ish, and this year Oppo has bumped up the battery capacity. So, let’s find out what Oppo has packed into this beautiful smartphone and whether it’s worth your money or not.

Design

The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G comes in two colors — Titanium Gray and Pearl White. The Pearl White variant features a unique color-changing pattern that reacts to temperature, while the Titanium Gray offers a more standard finish. The back is glass with a solid metal body, giving it a premium in-hand feel. It might feel slightly heavy if you’re using it for the first time due to its structure.

The camera module design is very attractive, even more so than the previous Oppo Reno 13 Pro. On the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G, it looks even better. I’ve attached some images, so check them out and let me know in the comments whether you like the design or not.

Oppo also provides IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, which is quite impressive.

Display

The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G features a 6.83-inch 1.5K LTPS AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. The peak brightness is 1200 nits, and it comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

The color output is really vibrant, and there’s a “Video Color Boost” option for multimedia lovers. If you enjoy boosted colors while watching videos, you’ll love this.

It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner, which is really fast and perfectly positioned. Unlike other brands that place it too low, the placement here is user-friendly and natural.

Performance

The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G is the first phone in India to come with the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 processor, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. This processor is an upgrade from the Dimensity 8350, which was used in the Motorola Edge 60 Pro.

If we compare Antutu scores:

  • Dimensity 8450: 1.6 million
  • Dimensity 8350: 1.4 million

So, you can clearly see that performance has improved. The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G is not a gaming phone, but it handles day-to-day tasks smoothly with no lags or heating in normal use. However, during heavy usage, some lags or heating may appear. It’s a solid performer, but not made for extreme multitasking or hardcore gaming.

Operating System

The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G runs on ColorOS 15 based on Android 15 out of the box. Oppo promises 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches, which is commendable.

However, like most phones in this range, it does come with some bloatware apps. Apart from that, the OS experience is clean and smooth.

AI Features

AI is everywhere now, and Oppo has added some cool and useful AI features in the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G. For example:

  • Three-finger swipe down takes a screenshot
  • Three-finger swipe up adds the screen content to “Mind Space”, where you can save notes, mark highlights, and even generate a shareable link to revisit later.

Another AI feature is real-time language translation, which works across the UI and browser.
In the camera app, you get AI Eraser, AI Unblur, and Enhance Clarity, all of which are useful tools for photo editing on the go.

Camera

The camera is the biggest highlight of the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G. On the back, it has a triple camera setup, and on the front, you get a 50MP selfie camera.

In real-life usage, the main and selfie cameras perform extremely well. However, the ultra-wide and macro lenses use the same sensor, so their quality is a bit average. I’ll write a separate, in-depth camera review soon — make sure to check that out!

Battery

Like most Chinese smartphones nowadays, the battery has crossed the 6000mAh mark. The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G comes with a 6200mAh battery, and you get 50W wireless charging along with 80W wired fast charging.

Battery life is impressive and should easily last a full day, even for heavy users.

🔚 Conclusion: Should You Buy the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G?

If you’re looking for a phone that excels in design and camera and offers a premium user experience, the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G is definitely worth considering.

With features like:

  • Temperature-sensitive back panel
  • Bright and vibrant AMOLED display
  • Unique AI-powered tools
  • Excellent selfie and main camera
  • Big battery with fast charging

…it makes a strong case in the premium mid-range segment. The Dimensity 8450 processor handles daily tasks well, though not ideal for power gamers.

Yes, there’s bloatware, and the ultra-wide camera is just average. But if those are not deal-breakers, the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G brings a lot of style, innovation, and value.
