Every year, Vivo impresses us with its X series, and this year is no different. The new Vivo X200 Ultra brings another mind-blowing camera setup, continuing the legacy of its predecessors. Along with the Vivo X200 Ultra, Vivo has also launched the Vivo X200s. Just like last year, I still wish Vivo would introduce a mini version of this phone something compact and powerful—which would be a great option for many users. Let’s dive into what the Vivo X200 Ultra offers and whether it’s a true upgrade over the X100 Ultra.
Design
There are no major changes in the design of the Vivo X200 Ultra. It comes with a premium metal and glass back. However, a new addition is the camera action button, similar to the iPhone 16 series. The design leans towards a squared-off shape—kind of boxy but not completely. The most eye-catching part of the phone is definitely the massive camera module, which looks like an aluminum-framed island housing three lenses and one flash, along with an additional flash outside the module.
The Vivo X200 Ultra is both IP68 and IP69 rated for water and dust resistance. The overall design is minimalist, subtle, and compact not a bulky, “big daddy” type phone.
Display
Just like its camera, the display of the Vivo X200 Ultra tells the same story—stunning and premium. It features a 6.82-inch QHD+ flat AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, giving you smooth and vibrant visuals. It has Gorilla Glass 7i protection and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. You also get HDR and 4K support on both YouTube and Netflix.
While I can’t comment on the panel’s technical quality, the color output is next level—not overly saturated but beautifully vibrant, especially when watching content. The display of the Vivo X200 Ultra truly enhances the multimedia experience.
Performance
The Vivo X200 Ultra is powered by the mighty Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage—a deadly combination for any flagship device. But here’s the catch: heating. Yes, Vivo has added some form of cooling, but it doesn’t work as effectively as expected.
This phone clearly uses its power more for photography than for gaming. During gaming or extended multitasking sessions, you’ll start to feel the heat after about 30 minutes. That said, it still performs incredibly well with high-end games and multitasking—the only issue is heating during long sessions.
Software
So far, the Vivo X200 Ultra has only launched in China. This means the current software experience is not the same as what users in India or other global markets will eventually get. The Chinese version of the software differs significantly from the global Funtouch OS or Origin OS. We’ll have to wait for the global launch to see how the software experience evolves.
Camera
The Vivo X200 Ultra is not a regular phone—it’s designed for top-notch photography. I’ll be writing a detailed blog just on the camera, but here’s a quick overview:
- Portrait Mode offers both 2x and 3x options, making it easier to shoot stunning human portraits.
- Night photography results are phenomenal—almost DSLR-level.
- The macro mode is insane, and a favorite for many users.
- Video quality is also great, though there are some catches in low light.
- Selfies are slightly underwhelming during night or golden hour conditions, but you do get some Zeiss-enhanced portrait modes and extra settings that add value.

The Vivo X200 Ultra stands out as one of the best camera phones of the year.
Battery
The Vivo X200 Ultra comes with a massive 6000mAh battery and supports 90W fast charging. This setup is more than sufficient for regular users. If you’re using it for multimedia consumption, it can easily last one and a half days. However, for heavy photography sessions, expect around half a day of battery life—which is understandable, given how much power it consumes, just like a DSLR.
Thankfully, the 90W fast charger can juice it up in just around 35 minutes, so no worries if you run out of battery in between your shoots.
Final Verdict
If you’re someone who loves photography and doesn’t want to carry a DSLR or extra gear, the Vivo X200 Ultra is made for you. It’s not just a phone—it’s a camera powerhouse. Yes, it has a few issues like heating and minor software limitations (until global release), but if your top priority is capturing stunning images, the Vivo X200 Ultra is a solid choice.
